1969 Corvair Monza Convertible for sale in Glen Riddle, Pennsylvania

$9,500

1969 Corvair Monza Convertible, Frost Green metallic paint, black convertible top, black interior.
This is one of only 521 Corvair convertibles built in 1969, the final year of production.
140 HP, powerglide automatic as originally equipped. Car looks and drives great, and is mechanically sound. I have driven this car from Philadelphia to the Jersey Shore, and to work on occasion. The car is very reliable and handles extremely well. You could drive it every day if that's your thing. It's lots of fun and seats up to 5. I simply do not drive it very often and I no longer have the garage space for it.
I am the third owner. I am also the immediate past president of the 1969 Corvair special interest group, a chapter of CORSA, the international corvair club.
This car needs nothing major. You can hop in and drive her home as I did and as the previous owner did when he bought it. The car is solid and there is no appreciable rust. It has been garaged since new, including the original owner (a GM lawyer at the time).
This car has never been wrecked. I purchased this car in November 2007 and have put only about 5,000 miles on odometer since. (The odometer turned over last year and presently reads 626 miles). Oil has been changed regularly with Brad Penn Racing oil (the green stuff). During my ownership I have installed new carpeting, hood and rear fender insulation, new radial tires on 14 Nova rally wheels, rear brake shoes, springs, tensioners, and brake lines, a custom leather steering wheel cover, new fan belt, battery, tune up, new gas lines and filter, new modulator for the PG, new dash speaker, front floor mats, new parking brake cable, and a set of original 1969 14 spoke wheel covers.
The previous owner bought the car in 1995 from the original owner. I have that bill of sale. Shortly thereafter the car was restored and repainted close to the original Frost Green. Door sills and floor pans were replaced at that time and a new top was installed. New shocks and all new suspension bushings were installed. The engine was completely rebuilt in 2004 (without the smog equipment) at the Vair Shop in Illinois approximately 6,000 miles ago; I have copies of the receipts from Larry. It does not leak oil!
Full disclosure: There are a couple of minor things that should be noted. The automatic transmission does leak due to a worn shift linkage o-ring; this is a very common problem and easily solved; I just haven't gotten around to installing the new o-ring that I purchased. Also, the primary carbs could use a re-build at this point in time only because the high speed jets are a bit sluggish under heavy throttle. The passenger door window rattles when lowered due to a broken weld on the rear glass channel. Beyond that, the only thing worth mentioning are some small door dings, mostly along the passenger side rear fender. I have won a number of trophys at local car shows and this car always gets a lot of positive attention wherever we go. However, to make this a true first class show car it would need a repaint.
I will include new gaskets for the transmission for the new owner to install. I will also include a complete set of new front brake shoes, lines, tensioners, and calipers that I have yet to install. Original paperwork will be provided including the original owner's manual and original dealer invoice.
